Non-Executive Director Vacancy

Non-Executive Director Vacancy

Thank you for your interest in joining the Board of our Foundation Trust.
I trust that this briefing pack will provide you with an insight into our organisation and how we see the Non-Executive Director position being a key force within Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in delivering our mission to ensure the provision of high quality, sustainable healthcare services to the community we serve.
This is an exciting time to join the Board at Ashford and St Peter’s. Much has been achieved over recent years, and we are performing strongly both in terms of clinical quality and financially. This is a challenging time for the NHS with demand for services increasing while the funding position is increasingly stretched. However we believe Ashford & St Peter’s is in a good position to meet these challenges.
The Board has a good track record of delivery of performance and enjoys supportive relationships with the Trust’s Council of Governors who represent the interests of the public, staff and stakeholders within the Trust.
We’ve celebrated a number of successes at Team ASPH in 2017, as a HSJ Awards finalist in the staff engagement category in recognition of our ‘Be the Change’ and #RightCulture programmes, which have used Quality Improvement techniques to improve how it feels to work in our hospitals. And we are proud Our ‘Adopt a Grandparent’ initiative won the ‘Tiny Noticeable Things’ category at the national ‘Fab Awards’.
This Non-Executive appointee will play an important role in our future success, working closely with me and the Board, bringing independence, external skills and perspectives, and challenge to strategy development. You will share a corporate responsibility for the governance and performance of the Trust in meeting both strategic and operational objectives.  You will actively support and promote a positive culture for the Trust in line with our Values and will share the responsibility to act in the best interests of the public and communities we serve.
We are therefore looking for an exceptional individual with a proven track record of working successfully at a senior, preferably Board level in an organisation of at least similar size and complexity. Ideally we are looking for a candidate with specialist expertise in marketing, stakeholder management or communications to complement our talented board.
If you are excited by the challenges of this opportunity, and believe that you have the skills, experience and ambition to play a key role in delivering our vision, values and strategic objectives, then we would welcome an application from you. We particularly welcome applications from female, black and ethnic minority or disabled candidates to strengthen the diversity of our Board.
If you have any further queries, please contact Elaine Beaumont, Workforce Resourcing Manager on 01784 884068
Finally, please note that all shortlisted candidates will have an opportunity to meet with me personally in advance of the interviews.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours sincerely,
Andy Field
Chairman
